Reporting a nutrition or price error
This is the most useful thing you can send. To make it quick to fix, include:
- The chain and item name exactly as shown in the app
- Which number looks wrong, and what it should be
- Where you saw the correct figure (in-store menu board, the chain's own site or app)
- A screenshot, if you have one
Common questions
FAQ
Where does the nutrition data come from?
Nutrition figures are sourced from each chain's own published data — their official nutrition APIs, calculators, and published nutrition guides. Prices are collected per chain and vary by location, so treat them as a guide rather than a quote.
Why is a number different from what's in store?
Chains update recipes, serving sizes, and prices without notice, and prices differ between metro, regional, and airport stores. If you spot a figure that's out of date, please email it through — corrections get applied at the source so everyone gets the fix.
Do I need an account?
No. There's no sign-up, no login, and no email required. The app works the moment you open it. Your favourites, saved orders, and goal preference live on your device only.
How is the score calculated?
Every item is scored against the rest of the dataset rather than against a fixed rulebook, so a score tells you how an item compares to everything else you could order. The weighting shifts with your selected goal — cutting, bulking, or value — which is why the rankings re-order when you change it.
Which chains are included?
McDonald's, KFC, Hungry Jack's, Guzman y Gomez, Grill'd, Nando's, and Schnitz — all Australian menus. More chains are added over time; if there's one you want, send it through.
Does the app work offline?
An internet connection is needed to load menu, nutrition, and pricing data. There's no offline mode in this version.
How do I delete my data?
Delete the app. Everything it stores — favourites, saved orders, your goal — is held locally on your device and goes with it. There's nothing on a server to erase, because nothing about you was ever sent there.
Is this medical or dietary advice?
No. Good Feed presents nutrition figures and comparisons for general information only. It isn't medical, dietary, or nutritional advice — talk to a qualified professional for that.

Good Feed ("the app", "we", "us") is an independent iOS app that ranks fast-food menu items by nutritional value. The short version: we don't collect anything about you.
- No account No login, no sign-up, no email.
- No personal data Nothing that identifies you is collected, stored, or shared.
- No tracking No ads, no profiling, nothing shared with data brokers.
- Local only Your saved data never leaves your device.
- You choose Crash reports and anonymous usage data are off by default, and only sent if you say yes — never what you search for.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect, request, or store any of the following:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any contact details
- Your location
- Device identifiers for advertising or tracking
- Your contacts, photos, or any other on-device data
- Account credentials — there are no accounts
- What you search for — we count that a search happened, never the words you typed
- Which items you view, favourite, or add to an order — we count that an item screen was opened, never which item it was
- Any free text, item names, or prices
Information stored on your device
Some preferences are saved locally using Apple's standard on-device storage (UserDefaults). This data never leaves your phone and is not transmitted to us or any third party:
- Favourites — items you've marked
- Saved orders — meal combinations you've saved
- Goal preference — cutting, bulking, or value
- Display settings — light/dark appearance, whether prices are shown
- Browsing preferences — your favourite chain, and the last menu you viewed
- App state — whether you've completed onboarding, and a count of app launches
That is the complete list — there is nothing else stored.
This data is removed if you delete the app. It is included in your device's encrypted iCloud/iTunes backups if you have those enabled, under Apple's control, not ours.
Network requests the app makes
Good Feed needs an internet connection to load menu, nutrition, and pricing data. Every request it makes:
- Menu data — read-only nutrition and pricing data from our hosted database (Supabase / PostgREST). These requests are anonymous: no account, no personal data, no device identifier. We do not log requests in a way that identifies you.
- Food images — loaded directly from the chains' public content-delivery networks (for example Adobe Scene7, Contentful, and Amazon S3). These are standard image requests, the same kind a web browser makes. We don't control these third-party CDNs. As with any web request, the CDN receives your device's IP address as a normal part of delivering the image; we place no tracking identifiers in these requests, and the app uses no tracking cookies.
The app contains no in-app web browser. External links open in Safari, which is governed by Apple's and your browser's privacy settings.
Third-party services
| Service | Purpose | Personal data shared |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase (PostgREST) | Hosting the read-only menu/nutrition database | None |
| Chain image CDNs (Scene7, Contentful, S3) |
Serving food images | None beyond the standard IP address inherent to any web request |
| Sentry | Crash reporting | The crash itself: stack trace, iOS version, device model, app version |
| PostHog (EU region) | Anonymous product analytics | None. Event names and a random app-only ID — no device identifier |
We do not use any advertising or attribution SDKs. The one analytics SDK is PostHog, described below. It is configured to collect no device identifiers, build no user profiles, and do no cross-app linking, and the data is held in the EU.
You choose, and can change your mind
Crash reporting and usage analytics are both off by default. The first time you open Good Feed, the last onboarding screen asks whether you want to share anonymous diagnostics and usage data or continue without sharing — nothing is sent until you choose. You can change that choice at any time from Settings → Privacy → Help improve Good Feed; turning it off stops both from the next time you open the app.
About the crash reporting
If you've agreed to share diagnostics, a report is sent when the app crashes so the crash can be found and fixed. Sentry is configured to send as little as it can while still being useful:
- No personally identifying data — Sentry's
sendDefaultPiioption is off, so it does not attach your IP address, a username, or an email. - No identifiers — the app has no accounts and creates no device ID, so there is nothing to link reports to you or to each other.
- No performance or session tracing — crashes only, not a record of how you use the app.
- No screenshots or view hierarchies, both of which Sentry can attach and which are switched off here.
- Search terms are stripped from the trail of events attached to a crash.

About the usage analytics
If you've agreed to share usage data, the app records a short, fixed list of anonymous events so we can tell which features are actually used and which are ignored — for example, that onboarding was finished, that a chain filter was applied, or that a search was run. This only happens if you agree to it, as described above. This is what tells us what to build next.
What an event contains, and what it never contains:
- No search terms. We record that a search happened. The words you typed never leave your device.
- No item names or prices. We record that an item screen was opened, not which item.
- No free text of any kind — only event names and a small fixed set of values, such as which of the three ranking metrics you chose.
- No device identifier. This is the important one. Many apps use the device's advertising or vendor ID; this app deliberately does not. Instead a random identifier is generated the first time you open the app and stored only on your device. It says nothing about who or where you are, cannot be matched to you, cannot be linked to any other app, and is destroyed when you delete Good Feed.
- Nothing is sent from development builds.
Because that identifier is random and app-only, and because nothing is ever combined with data from other companies or sold to anyone, this is analytics rather than tracking in the sense Apple uses the word — which is why no App Tracking Transparency prompt is shown. It is still your choice whether it happens at all, as described above.

Children's privacy
Good Feed does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app is rated 4+ and contains no objectionable content and no user accounts, and the anonymous usage and crash data described above identifies nobody — child or adult.
Data security
Because the app collects no personal data — the crash and usage data described above identifies nobody — and stores your preferences only on your own device, there is no personal data on our servers to secure or to breach. On-device data is protected by your device's standard iOS security and passcode/biometric protections.
Your rights (Australian Privacy Act & general)
Good Feed is operated from Australia and is designed to comply with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Because we do not collect personal information, most data-subject rights (access, correction, deletion) have nothing to act on. You can remove all locally stored preferences — including the random analytics identifier, which exists only on your device — at any time by deleting the app.
If you are in a jurisdiction with additional privacy rights (such as the EU/UK GDPR or California's CCPA), the same applies: we hold no personal data about you to access, correct, port, or delete.
Changes to this policy
If a future version introduces new data collection, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy label before that version ships, and update the "Last updated" date above. We will not retroactively collect data under a prior version's terms.
Crash reporting and the anonymous usage analytics were both added under exactly that commitment: this policy and the App Store privacy label were updated before the version containing each of them shipped.
